Cholesterol

Cholesterol belongs to the family of lipids. It is a substance similar to the fats found in the blood, muscles, liver, brain and other human tissue. It participates in the synthesis of the membranes of our cells and also in the construction of certain hormones (adrenaline, cortisol). It is produced in the body, in particular in the liver and is also derived from food (meats, dairy products, eggs, sea food and fish). A sufficient quantity is required for good health. However, an excess may be harmful.
